It’s the traditional DIY method — the acid is inexpensive, application doesn’t require special equipment, and it’s what most big-box epoxy kits recommend.

What Diamond Grinding Actually Does

Diamond grinding uses a machine fitted with diamond-segmented grinding discs to mechanically remove the top layer of concrete, exposing fresh, porous material underneath and creating a consistent surface profile across the entire slab. It also removes any existing coatings, sealers, oil staining, or surface contamination in the process — something acid etching can’t do.
